For many parents, purchasing a crib before their first child is born is the act that really, truly makes them believe that they're going to have a baby. When making your choice, keep in mind that the purpose of a crib is not only to complement your nursery's decor, but to provide a safe, cozy place for your child to sleep (and sometimes not to sleep). Your child's safety is of the utmost importance when making any purchase for your new baby's nursery. All our baby cribs and baby furniture pieces meet or exceed industry safety standards set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and/or the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association.

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from thousands of types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction. The CPSC is committed to protecting consumers and families from products that pose a fire, electrical, chemical, or mechanical hazard or can injure children. The CPSC's work to ensure the safety of consumer products - such as toys, cribs, power tools, cigarette lighters, and household chemicals - contributed significantly to the 30 percent decline in the rate of deaths and injuries associated with consumer products over the past 30 years.

Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA)

JPMA works with consumers, representatives from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and other interested parties to develop standards under the auspices of ASTM International (formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials), a highly regarded non-profit organization that publishes standards for materials, products, systems and services.

JPMA's Certification Seal is available to manufacturers who voluntarily submit products for testing. Only after the product passes the rigorous testing of the appropriate ASTM standard can it display the Certification Seal.

JPMA is a national trade organization representing 95% of the prenatal to preschool industry. Today, JPMA represents 250 companies in the United States, Canada, and Mexico who manufacture, import and/or distribute infant products such as cribs, car seats, strollers, bedding, and a wide range of accessories and decorative items.

JPMA has been recognized as an organization dedicated to enhancing children’s product safety. JPMA’s extensive history of leadership in juvenile product safety includes the development of a comprehensive Certification Program to help guide parents and caregivers toward purchasing juvenile products that are built with safety in mind.

JPMA continues to work with government officials, consumer groups, and industry leaders on programs to educate consumers on the safe selection and use of juvenile products. Safe & Sound For Baby and Baby Safety Month are only a few of the programs JPMA sponsors to keep today’s safety conscious parents informed.
